Our church was organized in 1953 through a vision God had given to a man namedlution to the building of every town, roads leading all the way to our present day and age. God through

D.S. Gifford. Through that vision and its earliest meetings, the church purchased the property it resides on today at the corner of 11th and Bernard in West Columbia, TX.
The church started out as Capitol Missionary Baptist Church and was later renamed Capitol Baptist Church. The name was chosen from the fact that West Columbia was The First Capitol
of the republic of Texas.
Our Church today is still dedicated to the purpose of providing a place for individuals and families to worship God and fellowship together. Our Sunday school is dedicated to teaching
from the Bible in an expository manner.
Our heritage is a strong base on which we seek to build a future which will continue to change lives and shape our community. We hope that you will chose to join us and grow
in God’s grace.
